Nervous System Workshop:

You’re not a “shitty person,” you’re just activated.

Starting September 8th

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You’re either flooded by emotion or cut off from it, and it’s showing up in ways that create distance or tension with the people you care about

  • You keep reacting in ways that don’t match the person you want to be

  • Your baseline feels off—whether it’s reactivity, anxiety, exhaustion, or emotional numbness

  • You’ve “done the work” but still feel stuck in patterns you can’t shift

  • You crave a stronger connection to your body and emotions

This five-week workshop is for people who are ready to stop white-knuckling their way through life—and start working with their nervous system, not against it.

Together, we’ll explore how stress, emotion, and disconnection show up in your body—and how to shift your state with practical, personalized tools.

What This Workshop Covers:

  • The basics of nervous system function and dysregulation

  • How chronic stress, trauma, and modern life shape your baseline state

  • How to recognize when you’re in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn

  • What regulation actually means (hint: it’s not just calm)

  • Simple, body-based tools to shift your state in real time

  • How to build a daily practice that supports safety, capacity, and choice

Why This Matters

So many of us confuse nervous system activation with personal failure. We label our reactivity as bad behavior, our shutdown as laziness, our anxiety as a character flaw. But what if those moments weren’t moral failings at all? What if they were just signs that your body is doing its best to protect you—and no one ever taught you how to work with it?

When we learn how to understand and regulate our nervous system, we stop pathologizing our patterns and start responding with compassion, skill, and agency.

Module 1: Understanding Your Nervous System

Practice: Daily state tracking + reflection prompts

Module 2: Building Awareness in the Body

Sensation is your body’s language. This week is all about tuning in. You’ll learn how to distinguish between sensation, emotion, and narrative—and start noticing your nervous system’s early cues.

Practice: Guided body scans + somatic journaling + sensation labeling

Module 3: Experimenting with Regulation

This is where it gets practical. You’ll explore different tools—like breath, movement, and sound—and begin building your own nervous system “menu” based on what actually works for you.

Practice: Try 1–2 new regulation tools each day and track what shifts

Module 4: Integrating Emotion and Relationship

How does dysregulation show up in your relationships? This module brings it all together—emotion, boundaries, co-regulation—and helps you apply your awareness in real-life interactions.

Practice: One relational experiment (naming a need, pausing in conflict, co-regulating)

You’ll design your personalized “nervous system care plan” and start identifying what environments, habits, and relationships help you stay regulated and real.

FAQ

Do I need any prior experience with nervous system work?

Nope. This workshop is designed to meet you where you are—whether you're brand new or already familiar with nervous system concepts.

What if I can’t make one of the sessions?

All sessions are recorded and shared with participants. You’ll still have access to the materials and practices, even if you can’t attend live.

Is this therapy?

No. This is a coaching-based educational workshop. It’s designed for personal growth and embodiment, not clinical treatment.

Will I have to share personal details in the group?

No one is ever required to share. Reflection and group conversation are encouraged, but you are always welcome to participate at your own comfort level.

Micah taught my Systemic Perspectives on Human Sexuality in Counseling course in grad school, and from the very first day I felt at ease in his presence. I loved the way he used his humor and openness to facilitate a safe environment for the class to take risks, to be vulnerable, and to not-know. He demonstrated a good deal of competence around the subject, while also being willing to share anecdotes from his own personal life and development around sexuality in ways that set the tone for the rest of us to show up honestly. His example gave us permission to not take ourselves too seriously, and to embrace a beginner's mindset on the subject. I highly recommend him!

I’ve worked with Micah for years. He was my teacher, then a mentor, and is now a colleague who I look up to for help on my most challenging cases. Micah has a distinct talent for boiling down vast amounts of information into a set of cohesive, organized and actionable principles. He’s somehow able to do this with a sense of humor and ease. Class with Micah is both personally transformative and a whole lot of fun.
